Ghosts Of Ramblers Past

Once upon a time in a foreign land far far away, there lived a Wee Little Rambling, babushka sporting, sassy little Hungarian Princess Rebel.

Her baby sister Annie-boo (AKA the rugged wild haired wonder, see below...) tried to keep up but she stood no chance! (I'm the favorite Ann, deal with it... HA)

The Wee Rambler was WAY TOO wild, wicked and mischievous. I mean, just look at those pants. They were full of "trouble" for sure. HAHAHAHA!

She was always getting into dirt, tomfoolery, mud and filth. Endless hours spent exploring, climbing, digging, screaming and yelling were how she spent her carefree afternoons. Her and her little posse loved roaming the neighborhood. They were like a miniature gang of teeny tiny rebels. Everyone FEARED them! (Ann is on the far right and I'm third from the right...)

After much discussion, reflection and thought, the Ramblers decided to leave Hungary and they relocated to Germany. Partially to get away from the LAW as well as Wee Ramblers' adoring fans. The stalking situation of her fan club was getting out of hand! It didn't take long at all to get adjusted to the hustle and bustle of the big city. The Rambler sisters hung out in the rugged and rough streets with their new posse (nice hair Ann..HA) and quickly became the talk of the town.

Wee Ramblers' popularity and reputation grew like wildfire. Her Papa became concerned and took both sisters to the BARBER to get a new "disguise". (AHEM, never let your dad take you for a haircut... I'm on the left, Ann is on the right... WOW Papa, really? HA! I LOOKED LIKE A BOY!)

Two years came and went and Wee Bit decided to leave the hustling of city life behind. The Ramblers left Germany and moved to the States to start a new life. She decided to turn a new leaf and become less rambunctious and WILD. She kept it low key and pretended to be a "super geek" to blend in with the rest of society. It worked and kept her fans at bay. No one recognized her. (Please see geeky proof of transformation below. OMG! Those glasses almost go past the bottom of my nose, good grief!!)

She now lives a quiet life (yeah right) in Ohio and mostly keeps to herself. Only a few people know the REAL her and what her crazy side is capable of. If you ever see her in the streets YOU BETTER WATCH OUT! You never know what could set her off. There's still a lot of craziness hiding behind those wild eyes. HA!

Okay, that was hella fun! I've never done a Flashback Friday post. I dug through my Mama's picture albums, and though sparse, I managed to find a few WINNING photographs to scan in and share with you. Sadly, we never had a camera in Hungary (CAN YOU IMAGINE????) so pictures of me as a baby, toddler and youngen' are VERY limited. TRAGIC. I was so adorable. HA!

Now on to why you are really here. FOOD!

BREAKFAST (meal #1) at 9:00am.

Nothing new here ladies and gents. Same old steamy bowl of deliciousness.
  • 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/4 wheat bran
  • 1 1/2 up water
  • pinch salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 tbs unsweetened dark cocoa
Topped at the end with...
  • 1 tbs flax
  • 1 tbs sugar free cherry preserves (Smucker's)
  • 1 tbs Better N' Peanut Butter

Yummy yum yum yummers! I adore breakfast....

What I DO NOT adore is gaining weight. Which I did! :-O

Obviously the shenanigans of last weeks multiple outings, birthdays, beers and eats did the trick. Mr. Scale was FURIOUS this morning. I gained a pound! No matter. I'm not upset. I had a great time and I'm back on track with the healthy meals, workouts and NO DRINKS this week. I don't ever want to live in fear of having fun because I'm trying to lose weight. It's a balance. Sometimes you go back up. The key is to nip it in the bud and keep it in check. GET YOUR WHIP OUT BABIES! Mine's a crackin this week!

LUNCH (meal #2) at 12:30pm.

I brought in leftover curry vegetables from the other day along with a whole wheat and flax FlatOut. Simple and delicious! I stank up the whole office. TAKE THAT COWORKERS! ;)

After my mini Indian feast, Ann and I ventured to Aldi for some fresh produce. I got the following for $17. INSANE! I love that store!
  • 2lb bag carrots
  • 2 large avocados
  • 3lb bag onions
  • 1lb asparagus
  • 6 pack kiwi
  • white mushrooms
  • 3 green peppers
  • 1lb bag tomatoes on the vine
  • 2 massive bags of fresh spinach
  • cooking spray
It was so gorgeous out today. Sunshine makes me happy and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. LOVELY!

SNACK (meal #3) at 4:00pm.

Repeat of yesterday. A chocolate Oikos with a manhandled and torn banana. I don't mess around!!

After work I rushed straight home and relaxed for a bit on the couch. Yeah, that's right, I did nothing! Glorious, sweet, sweet nothing for a solid hour! And to make it better, I was surprised by a box from Nature's Path as soon as I walked though the door. They sent me a box of Chococonut and Mmmaple Pecan granola bars to sample. New flavors they are offering that sound super delicious. Thanks Nature's Path!! I can't wait to try these bad boys! ;)

Randmon: I love sunshine!

At about 6:00 Nick suggested that we go pick up his newly cleaned bowling ball and play a few games. I was up for it, MINUS ANY BEER CONSUMPTION of course! We ended up playing two games and GET THIS!! I got 125 on my first game. Not only did I break 100 but I blew it out of the water. I realize this may not seem like a great score to most people but for me it's shy of a freakin miracle! ;)

We got home a little after 7:30 and I was starving! I immediately started investigating my cupboards, fridge and freezer for meal inspiration.

DINNER (meal #4) at 8:30pm.

I had a ripe avocado and some silken tofu to use up. Naturally this translates into a tofu quesadilla with a small side salad. YUM!

I stuffed a whole wheat and flax FlatOut wrap with mashed tofu (which I seasoned with taco seasoning, cayenne, S+P), fat free refried beans and low fat shredded cheddar cheese. I folded the flat out in half and seared both sides until golden. I topped it off with smoky peach salsa and Sriracha.

I had a small spinach and avocado salad on the side.

And a little fat free sour cream and the last little bit of refried beans. SO good!

I've got to go party with some dirty laundry now. I've been putting it off and I have NO gym clothes for tomorrow morning. We can't be having that! I plan to lightweight kill myself at the gym tomorrow. Time to get BACK ON TRACK and get on Mr. Scales good side again. CRACK THAT WHIP! ;)

Tootles my lovelies!
XOXO

Brain Pain

Oh hay there. Today has been a hectic, hot mess. I felt like I had 999 things to get done and not enough time in the day for even half of it. Still super busy at work. My brain hurts!!!

Let's start from the beginning.

BREAKFAST (meal #1) at 9:45am.

Yeah, that's right. I didn't get around to breakfast until almost 10:00 and I was still finishing it up at 10:30. It was that kind of a morning!
  • 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/4 wheat bran
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • dash pumpkin pie spice
  • pinch salt
  • Splenda to taste
And of course, I topped it with the usuals.
  • 2 tbs peach preserves
  • 1 tbs flax
  • 1 tbs Better N' Peanut Butter

Never gonna give you up. Never gonna let you down. Never gonna run around or desert you. (I just wanted to sing a little ditty for Better N' Peanut Butter because I LOVE IT!)

Breakfast calmed me down a bit, but not much! My hair ripping, mind unraveling, stress party continued all the live long day.

LUNCH (meal #2) at 1:00pm.

It seems that all my meals were late today. SIGH! At least they were delicious!

I had an everything bagel thin sandwich with smoked turkey and romaine. On the side I had roasted garlic hummus with green peppers and carrots. SO GOOD!

SOMEHOW, by luck and a hint of black magic, I managed to sneak out of the office today. I HAD TO! Nick's Birthday is this Thursday and I had yet to buy him anything. I worked quick like a bunny and managed to find him the perfect present. He'll be so excited! :)

SNACK (meal #3) at 4:00pm.

I had a Dannon Greek yogurt with cinnamon and pomegranate granola. I have decided that I LOVE this yogurt. It's so creamy, thick and DELICIOUS! It's officially my second favorite after plain Oikos.

We hit the gym after work for biceps, triceps, shoulders and cardio day. My favorite. ;)

Total Calories burned during my workout was 664. My max heart rate was 171 and my average was 144.

SNACK (meal #4) at 7:15pm.

I indulged in another delicious recovery smoothie the second I got home.
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze
  • 1 scoop peanut butter chocolate protein powder
  • 1 banana
  • LOTS of ice

I'm loving this new protein powder flavor. Even the smell is amazing! YUM!

Nick and I were giddy with anticipation all night. We had planned on watching the last episode of Dexter Season 3 tonight. This meant Dinner would have to be QUICK! I'm not known for my patience, you see.

DINNER (meal #5) at 9:00pm.

Nick was having leftover pizza. I should add that it was several days old. He's a brave little soldier. OLD leftovers freak me out. It's why I always eat them as soon as possible or freeze them, if they can be frozen.

I took a whole wheat and flax Flat Out and stuffed it with leftover tofu from last night, fat free american cheese, green onions and roasted garlic hummus. I folded the FlatOut in half and toasted both sides in a frying pan. URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT! This was delicious! I topped it with Trader Joe's smoky peach salsa and devoured it.

I also enjoyed some green beans with spray butter and garlic and sea salt sunflower seeds.

Oh so good! I licked the plate clean.

Alright lovelies. It's Dexter time. Going to finish the season while I cuddle with the Mr. and then call it a night. Time to unwind!

HUGS!
