The final countdown....

I was gawking at my makeup-less face this morning. Getting up close and personal with my reflection. I damn near sat in the sink to get a good look. The scary bright lights illuminated all of my little flaws but nothing truly horrific was staring back at me. Do any of you do this around your Birthday? A thorough self check to see if you look a year older? I often question if I look my age. I KNOW I don't act it!! Trust me, I'm not obsessing about turning 33. I've dealt with the fact that I'm in my "prime" if you will. I've also learned that it's our imperfections that make us beautiful. I welcome my teeny, tiny, cute little wrinkles with open arms. As long as they NEVER EVER get deep and HIGHLY visible. HA!

I figure as long as I live a healthy lifestyle, eat clean and exercise, I'll always look my best. You're never too old to sweat! Right?

Now on to the food. Glorious, glorious food!

BREAKFAST (meal #1) at 9:15am.
  • 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/4 wheat bran
  • 1 tbs flax
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 tbs unsweetened dark cocoa
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • dash apple pie spice
  • pinch salt
  • 1 tbs sugar free apricot preserves
  • 1 sugar free heart shaped Peep marshmallow

The heart got all melty. OMG it was so good with the cocoa flavored oats. I'm on my last pack of Peeps. Tis sad!

Mug Of Coffee also made a comeback since my portable mug fell apart on me yesterday.

While devouring my warm bowl of goo, I glanced over all the hairstyle pictures I've collected over the last few weeks. I picked my faves and printed them off to take to the salon with me. IT'S OFFICIAL! No turning back now! The final countdown has commenced! I can't WAIT for Friday afternoon! So scared and excited all at the same time!!!

LUNCH (meal #2) at 12:00pm.

Lunch was freakishly delicious today. I ADORE EGGS SO MUCH!

I made a pita with fat free refried beans, egg whites and Sriracha for some HEAT.

On the side I enjoyed a small salad of spinach and the last of my butternut squash.

It all tasted amazing! I was full for hours!

We fed our Target addiction on our break today. Sweet Target, it's been too long. I picked up 4 new t'shirts and a tank top for the gym. They were all on sale for only $5. I LOVE TARGET! No more MASSIVE gym clothes. YAY. I looked like I was sporting a cotton trash bag everyday.

SNACK (meal #3) at 4:15pm.

Plain Oikos with a crisp Fuji apple and some pomegranate & flax granola. YUM-YUM!

It was my favorite day at the gym today! Biceps, Triceps and Shoulders. I feel SO strong in my upper body now. Comparing it to where I was 7 months ago when I joined the gym is LUDICROUS!

WORKOUT!

Bicep Curls (barbell)
40lb x 15
35lb x 15 (2 sets)
Triceps Pulldown (cable)
70lb x 15 (3 sets)
Hammer Curls (dumbbells)

12.5lb x 15
Skull Crushers (barbell)
25lb x 15 (3 sets)
Seated Military Press (barbell)
25lb x 15 (3 sets)
Front Raises (barbell)
20lb x 15 (3 sets)
21's (barbell)
20lb (3 sets)
Tricep Pushdown Machine
70lb x 15 (x3)
Elliptical Cross Trainer, 30 minutes, 2.55 miles
Ten, 3 minute intervals of levels 6 & 8
355 calories burned

Oh yeah baby, feel the burn! It hurts SO good! I made a quick recovery smoothie as soon as I got home to feed my screaming muscles.

SNACK (meal #4) at 7:15pm.
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze
  • 1 small banana
  • 1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 tbs sugar free Torani syrup

Sort of looks like a heart doesn't it?

Twas delicious but it had me frozen to the core. I thawed my limbs in a hot bubble bath for a solid 30 minutes and then did a bunch of stretching. I needed it bad! My right hip started aching at the gym. NO IDEA what brought it on but it's quite uncomfortable at the moment. Hopefully it'll be better by tomorrow. If not, I may have to rethink an hour of cardio tomorrow. 30 minutes of it was rough enough today but I pushed through it.

DINNER (meal #5) at 9:00pm.

I had ABSOLUTELY no idea what to have for dinner tonight. I wasn't really craving anything. Nick was visiting a friend and having dinner over at his house. This made it even more difficult to choose. Somehow I ended up with a nice little eclectic mix of this and that.

I sauteed a bunch of broccoli with some white mushrooms in teriyaki, spray butter, red pepper flakes, black pepper and sweet Thai chili sauce.

I also had two slices of French Meadow Bakery Organic Healthseed Spelt bread. One slice had superfruit jam and the other had pumpkin butter. The slices are little but dense and delicious!

I also devoured a juicy orange. They're tasting so good right now!

Time to go. According to a certain someone, my blogging habit is cutting into cuddle time. ;)

Night!
XOXOXOXO
Ildie

To be honest, I can't wait to get wrinkles!! I think it's such a nice sign of beatuy - after all you only get them through facial expressions meaning lots of laughter, crying, argueing, giggling.. whatever. :)
I love random dinners! I have them all the time too :)

I'm so jealous of your day! Your discovery of wrinkles turned into acceptance - maybe it's the acceptance of imperfection that brings beauty!
