Lark at the Park...

Guten Tag, (German for "good day") Hope you're all having a wonderful day. I'm a bit tired today. We were up late playing games in Canton last night and I got to bed at about 1:00 am. However, I FINALLY WON at Settlers of Catan. I whooped them all, I whooped em good! YEAH!!!!! :)

Today was busy at work with it being the last day of the month. Happens this way every month. I've gotten used to it after ten years with this company but that doesn't mean I like it. Speaking of work, this is my office, I basically LIVE here during the week.

I've worked with friends, some have gone (layoffs) and we've since lost touch and some are still in my life. I also work with my sister, which keeps me sane. It's a small Co. and things are different from how they were when I first started, as is the case with many companies due to the economy. We just keep trucking along. I'm thankful every day for having a job to come in to, but as with all things, the stress remains. Life goes on.

I spend lots of time staring at this picture on my desk of Nick and I at a costume party because it makes me laugh when I get stressed.

For breakfast today I had my usual coffee, an english muffin smothered in fat free apricot jam and a banana. Tasty, tasty.

For lunch I ate at my desk as usual and had a turkey wrap and a plum.

Then Ann and I escaped for an hour and spent it at this park around the corner from work. I've been trying to get her to go there for months and I'm glad we finally made it. We had a blast. The place was nice and it just felt good to get out and get some fresh air.

For my afternoon snack I enjoyed a serving of fat free plain yogurt sweetened with splenda and topped with some juicy and ripe blueberries. Yummy.

Ann and I rode to the gym together today. She is finally having the hole in her tire fixed and has no car for the day. It was cardio day again. Starting this week we will be doing it 2x a week. BAH. Not my favorite but it will get the fat suit off the fastest. :) We were there for a little over an hour and then I took her home. I would also like to add that my ass is semi numb from the stupid bike.

For dinner I had leftover turkey burger. I sliced it up into strips and put it in a Pita with some lettuce, leftover grilled onions and mild Hungarian peppers. I also made some broccoli on the side. I seasoned it with spray butter and a few sprinkles of ranch dip mix (only 5 calories per teaspoon). It was all very good. Nick had some of my Mama's breaded pork chops with oven baked potatoes. She gave me some leftovers yesterday. So basically, I didn't have to cook dinner tonight, which was awesome.

Still tired from last night so now I just get to relax and do nothing for the rest of the night. Talk to you all tomorrow. Have a goodnight.

Saturday rolled into Sunday...

Hi everyone. Hope you are doing well. My weekend is nearing it's end but it's been such a fun one. Saturday started nice and early. I made myself a super tasty breakfast of banana and coco pancakes with fat free syrup. I absolutely love these pancakes. I'm experimenting with different add ins and they all come out excellent. This one was 1/2 cup of oats,3 egg whites, half of a banana, dash of salt, 2 packets of splenda, a tiny bit of vanilla extract and a teaspoon of coco. Blend till smooth and cook in a hot pan with some Pam for just a few minutes. I topped it with the other half of the banana and some syrup. OMG, so good!

Then I downed a cup of coffee and met Ann at the gym. It was leg day again. We did the usuals. Warm-up on the treadmill, squats, leg press, stiff leg dead-lifts, seated leg curls, leg extensions, hack squats and I also got on the ab machine and then we cooled down on the treadmill. It was a good workout!

My lunch was a simple bowl of cucumber salad. I made it using Mama's recipe. You cut the cucumbers as thin as possible, salt them well and then squeeze the extra liquid out of them. Toss them in bowl in which you have already whisked water, vinegar, pepper, splenda and a tablespoon of fat free sour cream in. Done. It's best served chilled. I had the salad with a turkey wrap and some very tasty hot/sweet mustard.

The I cleaned up and me and Ann went to the winery to enjoy the very gorgeous Saturday we were having. The place was packed. Birthday parties left and right. As you know from reading my blog, I love this place. We didn't take any snacks. Drinking wine was being naughty enough. We played pentago and scrabble and enjoyed the fine wine, scenery and the company. It was good times.

After the winery we went back to Ann's house and hung out for a bit. The wine had gotten the best of us and we were feeling lovely, just lovely. She made me a nice little salad for dinner. We cooked up some chicken breasts and just tossed that with the salad and some salsa dressing. Simple but tasty and filling. I forgot to take a picture. I will blame the wine. :-O

After dinner, I hung out for a bit and then drove home (yes, I was okay to drive by this time)... I spent the rest of the evening messing with Nick. Pretty sure he hates it when I drink wine. This won't stop me though. ;) BUGH BUGH!

Sunday morning I woke up, oddly enough, feeling good. I started my morning with coffee and pancakes again. This time I added blueberries to the same recipe instead of a banana. WOW, I think I love this one even more. How could I have went so LONG without these brilliant little pancakes in my life? HOW?

Anyways, moving on. I spent the next hour or so getting my cat high on catnip and then taking pictures of him. LOOK, LOOK HOW PRETTY HE IS! Mean little shit!

Nick was in the basement looking through his tools, look at what he found! Poor little lost guy was all covered in cobwebs. How the heck does a toad get into our basement? Very odd! Nick put him outside in the bushes. GOOD LUCK FELLOW!

For lunch I went to my moms but I took my own food. I made burritos for both Ann and I. Such a simple recipe. I took ground Morning Star (fake) meat and mixed that with 2 green onions, and black beans and taco seasoning and cooked it on low heat with a little water till nice and combined. We stuffed those into fat free tortillas and topped that with shredded lettuce, cherry tomatoes and fat free sour cream. Very good, and good for you. Also, very filling.

My mom made her famous breaded and deep fried pork and oven roasted potatoes which are smothered with oil. It smelled good but my burrito did too. I RESISTED!

For dinner we grilled out and I made ranch turkey burgers. I also grilled an onion and some mild Hungarian peppers. I had my burger with a high fiber English muffin instead of a bun. I also made a small side salad with Greek feta dressing. And of course, don't forget the pickle on the side!!!

Now we're of to Canton to hang out with some friends and to play some Settlers of Catan. I love that stupid game! We will probably be there for hours so goodbye and goodnight.

Drop it like it's hot.

I dropped another 2.9 lbs. YEAH! I must be doing something right. So I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. I'm currently enjoying a cup of peach tea while looking over a pile of health and fitness magazines my sister gave me. The women in these magazines look insane. As in insanely fit and good. They must live on lettuce leaves and diet pop and I bet they never leave the gym. For a guilty decadent desert, I bet they sneak some gum while no one is looking. HA! REBELS!

For breakfast today I had a Kashi granola bar again with a small apple, and a cup of coffee.

For lunch I had broccoli slaw with mushrooms and a fat free tortilla. I made this last night so I could bring it in to have at work. I almost burned the stuff and my house down by the way. Good thing I don't live alone! making this slaw is super easy. It comes pre-cut in a bag. I just add some soy sauce, teriyaki sauce and some sriracha sauce and cook on low heat till tender. Easy. :)

For my afternoon snack I just had a chocolate rice cake. I wasn't very hungry. Lunch was very filling. A coworker caught me taking a picture of the rice cake. HA! Pretty sure he thinks I'm crazy. That's ok, cuz I am.

My sister and I ran to the grocery store together after work. MAN, what a freakin mad house! It was like some sort of end of the world, get what you can while you can MEGA SUPER SALE or something. It seemed like we were there forever and I blew a small fortune. Eating healthy and fresh is not cheap, that's for sure! SACRIFICES!

For dinner I made Taco Salad. Nick had the expected version with chips, cheese and ground beef. I made mine with ground Boca, and I had it without chips and without cheese. I like this dish. It tastes very fresh. I also added black beans and avocado to add more flavor and texture. I love avocados so much! I could eat them every day.

Then for a mini snack I tried this new treat from Yoplait. Tasty stuff! I recommend it. The texture is very smooth, rich and creamy.

And now I'm going to read more fitness magazines until I pass out so I will leave you for the evening. Goodnight...

Ch Ch Chaaanges...

Szerbus (hi in Hungarian).... I was just curled up on the couch with my killer cat and watching What Not To Wear (guilty pleasure) while drinking a tall cool glass of lemon water. I lead an EXCITING life! Yes, this is true.... Some call me a rebel. I don't disagree. But now it's time to blog about my amazing life and day and in general. I tried a Kashi dark chocolate cookie for breakfast. It was much smaller than I thought it would be, but very tasty. I enjoyed that with my usual, over-sized mega cup of coffee (see visual below) and an orange.

For lunch I had some grapes and one of my favorites, a crab meat tortilla wrap with romaine lettuce. I love this stuff. Makes packing lunch on a busy morning very easy. I woke up late again. :-O

For my mid-day pre-workout snack I had cottage cheese with some fat free jam. I like this stuff. Satisfies my sweet tooth in a completely non guilty way.

It was chest, triceps and shoulder day at the gym today. Ann and I were just discussing that squeezing all three of these things may be too much for one day. We plan to revamp our workout schedule this Sunday and will start fresh on Monday. Right now we dedicate two days to legs, one to cardio, one to chest, triceps & shoulders and one to back & biceps. I think the below is probably what we will settle on for a while but we will discuss this in more detail on Sunday. We've been doing the same thing for almost a month now and change is good.

Mon - Cardio
Tues - Back and Biceps
Wed - Cardio & Shoulders
Thurs - Chest and Triceps
Fri - off
Sat - Legs
Sun - off

For dinner I had tomato soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. Simple but delicious. I didn't want anything heavy for dinner, the night before weigh in. (I'm scurt!)

Here's to hoping for a loss. Not like the lack of a loss will stop me though. I feel fantastic and have way more energy than I did a month ago.
