Addicted to Deliciousness

My morning started off much better today. Maybe I just needed a good nights sleep to vanish all of my frustrations away. The magic of Slumberland cured my woes and I woke up feeling happy and refreshed. Cold though!!! It was 59 in the house this morning. BRRR! GO AWAY WINTER! YOU'RE NOT WANTED HERE! At least the roads were clear this morning. Baby steps will get me through this cold and miserable season! One frozen step at a time!

Breakfast today was the usual bowl of oats at work.
  • 1/2 cup Old fashioned oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 1 tbs unsweetened cocoa
  • lots of cinnamon
  • dash apple pie spice
  • dash salt
  • Splenda to taste
  • and just a SPRINKLE of pomegranate granola from Simply Granola

YUM! I like the addition of the granola crunch! Tasty!

After breakfast I got a LOT of work done and then took a mental health break to read a few of my favorite blogs. And guess what? GO ON, GUESS!.......... I received an award from the lovely Sam over at Eat Breathe Run 13.1. This is my FIRST ever award in Blogland and I'm excited to get it. To accept, I must list 10 things that make me happy and then pass it along to 10 people! Okay, I KNOW you're excited so here we GO!

  1. My family. It's just the four of us since we left Hungary. I was a wee little me when we moved and we're very close now. LOVE YOU GUYS! YEAH!
  2. My Nick. Even with all of his craziness he's my loving little Boo Buh boo-boo bear. He will KILL me if he reads this!
  3. My friends. All fabulous, eccentric, fun, adventurous, caring, giving and amazing in their own quirky little way.
  4. My CRAZY cat Oliver. Me and Gangsta Angry Thug Fo Life kitty witty have been together for 10 years now. The men have come and gone but my crazy fur ball remains. It's probably why I keep putting up with his MEAN BS! :)
  5. Food. Yeah, I know, typical right? What can I say, I love to eat it, buy it, cook it, feel it, smell it. I'm a hard core FOODIE!
  6. Music. I love indie, unique, out there and non main stream music. I love it when people have NO idea who I am listening to. Unique music is the soundtrack of my crazy little life.
  7. Being healthy. Me and a healthy lifestyle have for sure had our rounds and ups and downs but in the end we always find each other again. It makes me feel good about myself and my choices, therefore obviously making me HAPPY in the end.
  8. Working out with my sis. I almost feel naked at the gym without her. Ann, I think we were meant to be Siamese twins? No? People, we even work together. You don't understand. Our obsession runs DEEP! HA!
  9. Coffee. The smell of it, taste of it, feel of it and warmth of it. I love it SO much that it's almost scary!
  10. Dancing. No, I am not a professional. IN fact, I suck, I just don't care. It's been a while but I MISS going out to dance at my favorite little dive bar. There was too much newly formed jiggle to shake so I stopped going. Stupid I know! Most of the shimmy shake is gone now though. We shall be reunited again my beloved (having a seizure) dance. HA!
So there you have it. I could keep going but we will leave it at this list for now. And now I will pass this award on to the following lovely ladies.

Lunch was SO good today. I had a toasted English muffin sandwich with pastrami and spinach. On the side I had a McIntosh apple and a Green Giant "just for one" bowl of broccoli and cheese. I was slammin in my office like a maniac.

A bit later Ann and I managed to leave the office. Next thing you know we're at HomeGoods and I have a cart full of crap. I can't explain it. IT HAPPENED SO FAST! I can't go there. I have no control! Look at my cute goodies. I LOVE the Cutie Pie bowl!

I think I will make hummus tonight in my NEW and EXCITING food processor using the Mediterranean herbs and oil I picked up.

Can't wait. I have yet to even turn this sexy beast of a processor on. Hard to believe right? Just look at her smooth, sleek and sassy lines. OW OW!

My afternoon snack was a delicious repeat of yesterdays. Plain Oikos mixed with Ann's protein packed carrot "cake" and a tiny sprinkle of Simply Granola brand Pom granola. I DEVOURED THIS!

Ann and I spent ALL day today chatting about food and recipe ideas. In person, in emails and over IM. The below is just one example of a conversation. We are OBSESSED!

ME-- Hot damn, I love the subtle cinnamon flavor of those things mixed with yogurt!
Ann-- Yes.. I love it
ME-- Almost like, if you close your eyes, you're eating a HEALTHY carrot cake muffin with EXTRA creamy cheese frosting!
Ann-- Holla!
ME-- I BET if you smeared sweetened laughing cow cheese, cream cheese or ricotta on top, it would be more decadent and "muffin" like. OMG! What is wrong with us? HA!
Ann-- Wait.. old girl did that! mixed sugar in w/ cheese and put in on top
ME-- OMG
Ann-- I wonder what would happen if I used wheat bran instead of oatmeal (ground up).. a cup of wheat bran is only 60 calories compared to 300 for the oats.
ME-- Don't think. JUST DO IT! And then bring me half.
Ann-- HA!
ME-- Don't laugh lol!

Yeah, we've got it BAD! We're addicted to deliciousness!

After work it was off to the gym. I finally feel like we're back to our regular gym schedules this week and it feels good! My workout is below.

After work I flew home. I was in a hurry because I had a few "projects" I wanted to try this evening.

Project A. Espresso with my new Espresso maker (picked up at lunch for $7... NICE). How did it go you ask? It went deliciously well. Mmmmm. I used macadamia flavored coffee. It was super easy to make.

Project B. Hummus with my new food processor. It worked like a charm and before you knew it I had hummus. Here is the recipe I followed.
  • 1 can chick peas, drained
  • 1 small yellow onion
  • 2 pepperoncini peppers (+ a splash of liquid from the jar)
  • 1 tsp crushed garlic
  • 1 tsp hot paprika paste
  • 2 tsp of Moroccan seasoning
  • 2 tsp Mediterranean grilling oil
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • fresh cracked pepper
  • dash salt

LOOK! A MAKETH HUMMUS-ETH. It was spicy, creamy and delicious!

After all of these shenanigans I was STARVING. I quickly made up the usual pancake batter recipe (you can find the recipe for that ***HERE***) but I added a 1/4 cup fat free ricotta cheese to mix as well. For the topping I quickly sauteed some frozen peaches, blackberries and strawberries with a splash of orange juice and Splenda. Once the cakes were done I topped them with a bit of low calorie, sugar free syrup and then the fruit mixture.

Heaven on a plate people! HEAVEN on a plate! It was out of this world.

I must go now. The Mr. is feeling neglected. He says I love you guys more then him. HA! Have a great night!

I adore the way your brain is wired! You like who you are and your blog reflects it. You are intriguingly saucy, incredibly creative, eclectic yet somehow well grounded with the old traditions while curiosity gets the best of you with new technology. You are a hybrid of Dali and Norman Rockwell. You are the first Rosie the Riveter of blogs I have ever met. I am honored and commend you. Cheers, PT
